All I seem to hear lately is about the new internet craze Chatroulette.
Chatroulette is a website that pairs random strangers for webcam-based conversations. Visitors to the website randomly begin an online chat (video and text) with another visitor. At any point, either user may leave the current chat by initiating another random connection. Guess it is like speed dating for chat.. without necessarily the dating part. I have heard of similar webcam speed dating sites using a similar system.

The Chatroulette web site was created by Andrey Ternovskiy, a 17-year-old high school student in Moscow. Ternovskiy says the concept arose from video chats he used to have with friends on Skype, and that he wrote the first version of Chatroulette, in "two days and two nights".

I'm beginning to wonder though how safe it is now since seeing there is a chatroulette map that pin points on a map its users, so much for anonymity!

ChatrouletteMaps doesn't let you pinpoint everyone you connect with on Chatroulette, unfortunately. Instead it just lets you poke around a global Google Map for screenshots of people who's IP its captured. And obviously an IP address isn't like GPS; these things aren't going to be totally accurate to the street level.
Still I wonder about the stranger danger factor of such sites....
