A PERUVIAN mother-of-four was trapped in her bed for six months because of her giant breasts.

The Sun reported that Julia Manihuari's chest grew to a gigantic N cup after the birth of her third son seven years ago - leaving her unable to move.

"It was awful. If I tried to get up I would faint because my breasts were so heavy," she said.

Ms Manihuari, 29, who lives in northern rural Peru, was finally helped when local media paid for her to take a three-day boat trip to the nearest town for medical help.

Doctors diagnosed an extreme form of Bilateral Gynecomastia - an illness where the mammary gland keeps growing.

They had to cut 35 pounds of flesh from her breasts, fearing they could squash her lungs and kill her.

Ms Manihuari emerged as a size 34B after the six-hour operation.

"Before the operation I couldn't do anything - I just had to live with it. It got so bad that my breasts were touching my legs," she said.

"I have always had a small build, and the stress on the rest of my body was agony."

An elderly Chinese woman has shocked friends and family by growing a devil-like horn from the top of her head.

The Sun reported today the strange growth began appearing on 101-year-old Zhang Ruifang's forehead last year.

Since then it has reached more than six centimetres and a matching horn looks to be appearing on the other side.

The grandmother's condition has left her family in Linlou Village, Henan province, baffled and worried.

The youngest of her six sons, Zhang Guozheng, 60, said when a patch of rough skin formed on her forehead last year "we didn't pay too much attention to it."

Zhang, whose eldest brother and sibling is 82-years-old, added, "but as time went on a horn grew out of her head and it is now six centimetres long.

"Now something is also growing on the right side of her forehead. It's quite possible that it's another horn."

Although it is unknown what the growth is, it resembles a cutaneous horn.

These are funnel-shaped growths and although most are only a centimetre in length, some can extend a number of centimetres from the skin.

The growths are most common in elderly people, aged between 60 and the mid-70s.

MARIA Alaimo wanted a breast augmentation, not a breast duplication.

But "four breasts" is what the Staten Island mother got after a 2003 visit to Dr Keith Berman, which was intended to enlarge the woman's breasts to a full 36 C cup, the New York Post reported today.

Instead, Alaimo wound up with "double-bubble" deformities that caused "pain ... disability, loss of self-esteem, humiliation and embarrassment," according to her lawsuit, the Staten Island Advance reported on its Web site.

"Maria came out of that operation with essentially four breasts," her attorney, Michael J. Kuharski, told jurors during Monday's opening arguments in Staten Island Supreme Court.

Postoperative photos showed heavy scars on Alaimo's breasts, which appear flattened on the bottom with "severe swells the size of a softball on top," reported the news site.

The surgery also subsequently led to Alaimo's divorce from Dominic Alaimo after she refused to undress due to embarrassment, Kuharski told the court.

The 47-year-old is now seeking $US5 million ($5.525 million) in damages from Berman.

Berman said he "absolutely" reviewed all the risks with Alaimo before the procedure.

"She was only concerned with the glamour part," Berman's attorney Jerry Giardina told the jurors.
